Basketball Goes Green

December 21, 2009--Over the weekend, a new audience was exposed to green living. ESPN broadcast a basketball game between the University of Kansas, the top men’s basketball team in the country, and the University of Michigan.

During the game, the network featured green tips, like how you can reduce your energy use by 40 percent by unplugging appliances when you’re not using them. The University of Kansas’ green initiatives were also featured, and a professor explained how one of KU's faculty members was part of the IPCC team that won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for climate-change research.

The "Green Game" definitely shows that the environment is making its way into America’s consciousness—including the consciousness of its basketball fans.
