Go Green Night at Avista Stadium a Home Run for Energy Efficiency

August 10th, 2009--Avista Stadium will be a powerful place on Aug. 12 when the Spokane Indians take on the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. Energizing the pre-game activities will be “Go Green” activities and information booths. Wattson, Avista’s energy watch dog and his pal Edison, will be there to meet and greet kids and share tips on energy efficiency and safety.

Representatives from Avista and the Washington Department of Ecology also will be on hand to offer information on home energy efficiency and renewable resources and to hand out free compact fluorescent bulbs and low-flow shower heads.

Avista’s Sun Car will be on display, as well. The re-tooled Toyota Prius is battery powered and recharged by energy generated from solar panels atop Avista’s headquarters building in Northeast Spokane.

The Spokane Indians will donate 50 cents from each ticket purchased at the stadium to Project Share, an energy assistance fund for our neighbors in need.

“Go Green Night” is the kick-off for upcoming events planned during Sustainable September -- a month-long series of educational, entertainment and interactive activities focusing on sustainable living in the Greater Spokane area.
