Power Supply Centre To Support Sochi 2014 Development
The capacity of the Poselkovaya substation is 72 megawatts. It will provide energy to Sochi 2014 regional infrastructure facilities as well as to the Caucasian biosphere reserve, native plants park and a planned ornithology park. A Sochi 2014 press release says by developing expertise during the sustainable construction of Sochi 2014 venues, the 2014 Games will leave a genuine legacy for environmentally friendly construction across the whole of Russia. Sochi 2014 will also implement Green Standards during Games-related construction. This involves ensuring that environmentally friendly building materials, renewable energy sources, waste and pollution management and reduction systems are all used in Olympic preparation. It will also ensure that water and energy resources are utilized efficiently. Dmitry Kozak, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia said, "this substation will connect 100 major building to energy lines, improving the infrastructure and development of the region as we build towards the Sochi 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Witner Games.
