Sharing Warmth Around the Globe

Sharing Warmth Around the Globe (SWAG) is a program developed by the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) that is “dedicated to the distribution of retired ski resort uniforms to those in need in cold weather countries throughout the world.”

The program has been run since 2000, with thousands of garments collected and recycled at fifty ski areas in North America each year and sent to countries in need.

NSAA accept winter jackets, fleece outerwear and vests for redistribution outside the United States in cold weather countries of need. Other items may also be accepted but must be approved by NSAA prior to shipping.

NSAA partners with non-governmental organizations, governmental agencies and adventure travel companies to assist those in need by facilitating the delivery of goods in the destination countries.

Among the many thousands of items of winter clothing distributed around the would are;
~200 retired ski resort jackets donated to the Himalayan Explorers Connection to be used by porters during their climb on Kilimanjaro, Tanzania.
~6,000 winter garments delivered by Department of Defense and distributed by UNAMA, United Nations Aid Mission to Afghanistan.
~6500 winter garments given to residents of 22 war torn villages in Kosovo.
~ 70 winter uniform coats donated to Nepalese Youth Opportunity Fund and Asia Foundation.
~1800 winter garments distributed to high altitude schools located in Nepal.
